Meryl Streep’s Ultra-Luxurious New York Penthouse Is Up For Sale
The Oscar-winning actress has shaved $10 million off her original asking price.
In August 2018, Meryl Streep listed her Manhattan penthouse at 92 Laight Street for $37 million but she recently dropped the price to $27 million, offering buyers a saving of $10 million. Assuming you’ve got that kind of money to save.
Located in Tribeca, the penthouse takes up the entire top floor of the building and has a 270 degree view of world famous landmarks including the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State building and the Chrysler building. Streep is rumored to be selling her penthouse because she and her husband are moving to California.
Tribeca (originally written as TriBeCa) stands for ‘Triangle Below Canal Street’ and is the richest postcode in New York City according to Bloomberg, with an average income of $1.2 million per year. The area is a favorite of actors, models and other celebrities.
One of the touted features of 92 Laight Street is that it has an underground garage with key-operated elevators that take owners directly to their front doors, which is convenient for paparazzi avoidance. It also has a fitness center and a 24-hour doorman.
Streep’s penthouse was designed by award-winning architects, Tsao & McKown, and is bordered on three sides by a wide terrace.
With agents-to-the-well-heeled, Sotheby’s International Real Estate, hosting the listing, it will be interesting to see who the new owner of this hallowed ground is and whether they’re a die hard Streep fan. Check out this gorgeous space below:
