A Walk Through the Journey of Her Success..
10 Rules to success – by Priyanka Chopra
Happy birthday Priyanka Chopra. As the actor turns 35 today, let’s take a look at take a look at her success journey. She has been at the receiving end of hate, bully and even rejection and nepotism, but nothing could ever deter her spirit.
Priyanka Chopra was born on July 18, 1982, in Jamshedpur, India. Both her parents are doctors, and her father was in the army, so Chopra’s family moved quite a bit as she grew up. She studied at the La Martiniere Girl’s School in Lucknow before relocating to the United States for three years. She started high school in Massachusetts before moving to British Columbia, Canada. From there it was back to India, and Chopra then attended the Army Public School at Bareilly. It was during this period that Chopra’s life would begin to switch gears, as she entered and won the May Queen contest at the Bareilly Club.
Soon another beauty pageant was on her radar: the prestigious Miss India.
“I was studying for my 12th boards, when my mother sent my pictures for the Miss India contest,” Chopra recounted. “When I got the call, I didn’t know how to respond! My dad told me to give it a try. And I did…. I didn’t think I would win. I just went to take a break.”
But she did win, and although she was enrolled at Jai Hind College in Mumbai, she quickly dropped out of college to explore her more glamorous options. She soon took her Miss India crown to the 2000 Miss World pageant and won that as well, becoming one of five Indian women to take the title. With that win came instant fame and Chopra soon took the logical next step: the world of film.
Girl next door Priyanka Chopra became a known face in the glamour industry when she finished second in the Femina miss India contest winning the miss India world title in 2000. She added another feather in her cap after being crowned miss world in the same year.
Although Chopra initially aspired to study engineering or psychiatry, she accepted offers to join the Indian film industry, which came as a result of her pageant wins, making her Hindi film debut in The Hero in 2003. She played the leading lady in the box-office hits Andaaz (2003) and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and earned praise for her breakout role in the 2004 thriller Aitraaz. In 2006, Chopra established herself as a leading actress of Indian cinema with starring roles in the top-grossing productions Krrish and Don.
Following a brief setback, she received critical acclaim for playing a troubled model in the drama Fashion (2008), which won her the National Film Award for Best Actress and the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
Chopra subsequently gained recognition for her versatility in portraying a range of unconventional characters in the films Kaminey (2009), 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), Barfi! (2012), Mary Kom (2014), Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), and Bajirao Mastani (2015), all of which garnered her critical acclaim and several accolades.
In 2015, she began starring as Alex Parrish on the ABC thriller series Quantico, becoming the first South Asian woman to headline an American network series.
